The Regulations provide that a Neighbourhood Plan becomes part of the statutory development plan immediately after it is approved through the referendum. Given the referendum result, the Strensall with Towthorpe Neighbourhood Plan is now part of the Statutory Development Plan for the City of York. Its policies will therefore be used in determining planning applications that are located within the defined Neighbourhood Area. The City of York Council is expected to ratify the making of the neighbourhood plan at its Executive meeting on 15th June 2023
Executive Meeting 15th June 2023
The decision by the Executive was unanimous to “make” the Adopted Neighbourhood Plan for planning purposes. One councillor commented that the percentage of electors who said “YES” at the referendum on 4th May 2023 was the higher than any other in the CoYC local authority area.
